The NCP1654 is a controller for a continuous conduction mode (CCM) power factor correction (PFC) step-up pre-converter. It controls the power switch on-time (PWM) in fixed frequency mode, depending on the instantaneous coil current. The circuit uses SO-8 encapsulation, which minimizes external parts count and greatly simplifies PFC implementation. It also integrates high safety features, making the NCP1654 a suitable input power runaway clamp circuit.
