The NCP1342 is a highly integrated quasi-resonant flyback controller for designing high performance off-line power converters. The NCP1342 has an integrated active X2 capacitor discharge function, which can achieve a no-load power consumption of less than 30 mW. The NCP1342 has a proprietary valley lockout circuit that ensures stable valley switching. The system operates down to the 6th valley and transitions to frequency foldback mode to reduce switching losses. As the load decreases further, the NCP1342 enters a silence skip mode to manage power delivery while minimizing noise. To ensure light load performance for high frequency designs, the NCP1342 incorporates minimum peak current modulation (MPCM) to quickly reduce switching frequency. To help ensure converter robustness, the NCP1342 implements several key protection features such as internal under-voltage detection, non-dissipative over-power protection (OPP) that guarantees a constant maximum output power at any input voltage, a lockout via a dedicated pin Stored overvoltage and NTC-ready high-temperature protection, along with line removal detection, safely discharges the X2 capacitor when the AC line is removed.
