Product Overview The NCP1568 is a highly integrated AC-DC PWM controller for implementing an Active Clamp Flyback topology. The NCP1568 uses a proprietary frequency conversion algorithm to achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of MOSFETs under various line and load conditions. The ZVS function enables high frequency operation, increasing the power density of the power converter while achieving high energy efficiency. Integrates a high-voltage start-up circuit, a powerful low-side driver, and a 5-V logic-level driver for active-clamp FETs, including SJ FETs and GaN FETs. The NCP1568 is suitable for a variety of applications including AC-DC adapters, industrial, telecom, lighting and other applications with important power density requirements.

The NCP1072/NCP1075 products integrate a fixed-frequency current-mode controller with 700 V MOSFETs. Using PDIP-7 or SOT-223 encapsulation, the NCP1072/5 offers a high level of integration including soft-start, frequency dithering, short-circuit protection, cycle skipping, maximum peak current set point, slope compensation, and dynamic self-power supply (no auxiliary winding). Unlike other monolithic solutions, the NCP1072/5 is noiseless: during normal load operation, when switching at one of the available frequencies (65, 100, 130 kHz). When the demand for output power disappears, the IC will automatically enter frequency foldback mode, providing excellent energy efficiency at light loads. When power demand decreases further, it enters skip mode, reducing standby power consumption to no-load conditions. Protection features include: timers to detect overload or short circuit events, overvoltage protection with automatic recovery, and AC input line voltage detection. To improve standby performance, connecting an auxiliary winding stops DSS operation, helping to reduce input power consumption on the high line to less than 50 mW.

The NCP1615 is a high-voltage PFC controller that drives a PFC boost stage based on an innovative current-controlled frequency foldback (CCFF) mode. In this mode, the circuit normally operates in critical conduction mode (CrM) when the inductor current exceeds the programmed value. When the current is below this preset level, the NCP1615 will decrease the frequency linearly, down to approximately a minimum of 26 kHz when the current is zero. CCFF maximizes energy efficiency at nominal and light loads. In particular, standby losses are minimized. Innovative circuitry achieves near-unity power factor even at reduced switching frequency.
